From our family to yours, since 1932.
A state of the art showroom was built and a catalog was distributed to customers, featuring home remodeling design services and complete bathrooms from $89.00.
For the next 20 years Economy Plumbing Supply continued to grow as it established its reputation as THE place to go for plumbing repair parts, advice and a fair deal on plumbing supplies and fixtures.
Along with the new Indianapolis location, came a new and controversial business philosophy: self serve plumbing. Long before there were home centers or the term DIY, Economy Plumbing Supply turned the local plumbing wholesale industry upside down by moving to a “retail” concept, featuring aisles of plumbing supplies available for inspection and selection by the customer.
Economy Plumbing Supply opened its doors in 1932. Founded by brothers Herbert, William, and Edward Strong, the plumbing supplies company found success during the financial challenges of the great depression.
Herbert Strong’s son, Herb Jr. joined the plumbing supplies company upon the retirement of William and Edward after returning from his tour of duty with the U.S. Navy. Father and son worked side by side until Herb Sr.’s retirement in 1960.
1983 brought new changes and growth to the company as Herb’s son John Strong came on board and the company acquired it’s current downtown location at 625 N Capitol Ave, Indianapolis, IN.
As the city’s growth began sprawling further north, the company saw new opportunities and opened a new location in the growing Fishers. Located at I-69 and 96th Street in Indianapolis, HomeStyle boasts a beautiful home remodeling showroom along with the signature self service plumbing supplies, and knowledgeable counter staff.
As Economy Plumbing Supply and the HomeStyle showrooms celebrate more than 80 years in business, the company continues to look optimistically to the future of their business and the industry as a whole, excited about what is coming up next.
